situation where? Georgia & Russia?...two small Russian-leaning enclaves are part of Georgia's democracy. They taunted the Georgian military at Russia's behest...Georgia's president took the bait. That was exactly what Russia had planned for...their military under the guise of "exercises" was located directly over the border from Georgia. Russians invaded killing over a thousand Georgians and destroying radio & cell phone towers, many buildings along the way.

Now that Pres Bush has announced he's sent the US Navy & Air Force with humanitarian aid to Georgia, there's word that Russia has begun to withdraw. That's the only language tyrants understand--forceful action with impugnity.
P.S. 3 oil pipelines run through Georgia...one line is dedicated to European supply of oil. So Europe definitely has a vital interest in the situation.
