RE: Nokia/QCOM on W-CDMA IPR,

I has occurred to me that all of the debate about who has what IPR rights has taken place on these types of message boards. I don't recall any statements from QCOM or NOK that would indicate that either have any doubts about who owns what IPR for W-CDMA.

Given the above and the recent Hitachi announcement regarding 3G CDMA, as well as recent analyst upgrades surrounding QCOM, I'm beginning to believe that we might soon hear something from both Nokia and QCOM regarding 3G CDMA of all types. I would expect this to take the form of a joint announcement. I read a lot of messages on these boards about how Nokia is anti QCOM but I don't believe I've ever heard anyone from Nokia say that. All I've heard is that they are interested in keeping ASIC development in-house. In fact, Nokia was the third company to license CDMA technology from QCOM.

My point is that perhaps were are projecting our own personal feelings on two companies who, in reality may be working with each other to guarantee a bright future for both. I strongly believe that it is in the best interests of both companies to work together. I predict within two weeks we will all be giving each other group hugs. All in the fullness of time.

(I said I wouldn't post on this board again but I feel that an exception is allowed if I stay on topic. This is as close as I can get.)
