It is a format convertor, not an MPEG encoder.

If the video format is already in the format needed for transmission, then there is little point to the box unless it offers better preprocessing (noise reduction, entropy reduction to match target bitrate).

You could probably program it to encode video though. SMP & Systolic Arrays -- what a nightmare.
