Your speculation is flawed. Enron spread the donations around. It appears to me that Bush & Clinton, among many others from both parties received generous donations over the last few years........ with the Executive branch (both the Clinton & Bush Admin) receiving a very generous portion.

As for Clinton saying no & insinuating that Bush said yes, lets see who did or did not act appropriately as the facts are disclosed.

So far, I see the following..........

- Consider that Enron prospered under the Clinton Admin & unraveled under the Bush Admin.

- SEC investigations, hearings, investigations have quickly been opened & to date, no credible evidence that anyone has tried to influence/hinder them

- No credible evidence that any politician attempted to help Enron when they began to unravel.

- Bush Admin officials have disclosed their actions that, to date, appear to be appropriate, including Ashcroft appropriately recusing himself from the investigation by the Justice Dept.

- Consider the ethical standards of the current & previous Administrations.

It may turn out that one said yes & one said no.

Who would be more likely to maintain their moral & ethical standards if approached by Enron requesting inappropriate favors?
