I would agree that the left is piling the crap higher than the right, but I don't think the right is less prone to partisan attacks than the left. I certainly saw no evidence of this during the Clinton impeachment year and a half.

That very example points out what is different from then to now - who is in power and who in opposition.

The advantage of opposition is that you get to carp and you don't have to have a policy, and the Democrats are taking full advantage of their position. Trying to judge by Republican behavior during 1998 (I'm thinking of Kosovo), the Republicans might be slightly better on Iraq if Bill Clinton had done it. But maybe not.
