Nemer,

Thanks for the description of your HD's setup, which I read with great interest. Let me comment on your question first.

When you install WinXp or W2K on a clear HD, it will boot directly without the boot menu coming on the blank screen.
If you installed either of those OS's into a computer with an OS already on, it will create a boot.ini file in the root of the OS usually in C: and will offer you a choice booting into any installed OS as well as the delay in seconds so you can toggle to the OS. You can open the boot.ini in the notepad, change the time/OS to open, make sure you backup the original file before you change anything so have a good copy in case.
The safer method of changing the time/default OS is from My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Startup & Recovery.

I do agree with you on the 5 must have, as well as the W2K
and XP being the most stable OS's. Also concur that having
several OS's will push one away from using XP, especially the Xp Pro, who wants to pay for each OS if you are the only user?

I wander, having separate partitions instead of separate HD's for email wouldn't be sufficient? Do I miss something?

Alex
