Quatrains from Quattrone - Paul Kedrosky
10/14/03 01:06 PM ET

Say what you will about the dubious merits of this ongoing obstruction trial of CSFB banker Frank Quattrone, the quotes have been delicious. First we had the email between the saintly Michael Dell and Frank Q., with the former wangling for a better allocation of the Corvis offering, and the latter looking for a blessing on Charlie Wolff as the new Dell analyst. And then we had the great bit on Friday where Quattrone said that investment bankers didn't have to be very smart.
Today we have another keeper. When he sent the mail urging people to destroy documents, Quattrone says he didn't knowingly obstruct the grand jury. How come? Because, he says, "I believe that I did not know what a grand jury was".

You just can't make this stuff up.
