Headway Technologies is the company identified as the manufacture of the "Dual Stripe MR Heads" that are going to be used in the Rocket. I dug around a little and found some interesting things about Headway.
>>Headway Will Almost Triple Its Workforce By Mark Hachman Headway Technologies, a Milpitas, Calif.-based manufacturer of magnetoresistive-head gimbal assemblies and sliders for disk drives, has announced a $54 million capitalization that will enable it to almost triple its workforce to 900 from 350.
Of the $54 million in raised capital, $19 million will be received through prepaid product purchases. Headway is offering a discount to four industry partners that have pledged to purchase an undisclosed amount of its products over a three-year period.
One of those partners, Western Digital Corp., is moving its entire disk drive product line to magnetoresistive heads this year. Analysts named IBM Corp. and Seagate Technology Inc. as two other partners. The fourth partner could not be determined.
"[Prepaid purchases] is something that I specifically pushed for," said John McKay, president and chief executive of Headway, Milpitas, Calif. "It ties our customers to our future."<<
