"Considering you haven't posted any of Carter's alternative fuels programs"
Sure I have. You just choose to ignore them. Prior to Carter, both solar and fuel cells were the province of NASA. When Carter left office, solar, for example, was over $1 billion per year.
It promptly dropped to a few million once the plug was pulled.
Coal gasification, oil shale and oil sands were being researched. That all stopped when the plug, well, you know.
"Or would you like to discuss shale oil, the great Carter success it has been?"
Ah, so you do remember one! You've just been lying, then.
Oil shales have problems. Needless to say, when we stopped doing the research, nothing much has happened.
No huge surprise.
Now, i-node is a big proponent. And he has a point. But, at the current state of affairs, it is a non-starter. Needs another decade or more of research.
If we had only started in the 1980s, we probably would have been there by now.
Oh, wait... |
