I think SS needs more than a slight fix as proportion of workers to retirees flip flops as the boomers retire. Yesterday you said just raise the rate and extend it up to 250K. I said that was unfair to working stiffs more so than to the rich. I think you are more wedded to the everyone must pay in equal amounts thing than i am. Even obama doughnut trys to address this problem. I would like to lower rate and make this like medicare and tax on all income while at the same time making the bush income tax rates permanent. Sort of gives us a flat payroll tax on top of progressive income tax. I might also create and exemption for the first XXXX dollars of earnings to help the poor and middle class workers at or near poverty levels. Maybe i would take back the exemption on the highest bracket earners abouve 250K???
