tomato,

1. mcafee is not a real product. only use norton. i'd go to norton and use their free, temporary anti-virus product.

2. i'd also try to defrag since it sounds like you may have pointer issues, although you may already be too far gone at this point. go to start; programs; accessories; system tools; disk defragmenter; defragment

3. for future reference, as soon as weird things begin to happen, try to get help immediately. weird things beget more weird things, as i've learned the hard way.

4, you do have a backup system for your important documents, right?
