Re -- Does Intel have to bow to the pressures applied by a standards body on the designs of it's chips?

You are again confused about standards and implementations. I suggest you do some research on the matter.

Re -- There is very little left for a standardization body to do.

Do more research on the function of a standards body. BTW, Sunw themselves initiated this standards stuff.

Re -- Sun is a powerhouse of a company with tremendous resources. You are way off-base in your analysis Stockman.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Even DELL (one of the many pc suppliers is larger than Sun, in terms of revenue).
