Health insurance companies aren't nationalized. They cease to exist. It's called stripping out the middleman.

There are lots of functions performed by insurance companies other than advertising and making money. We've had lengthy discussions on the functions performed by insurance companies. They have to be performed by somebody. If the fed does them as in Medicare, then the functions have not disappeared but rather been nationalized.
