I downloaded j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p and the installation process was stopped with the message "The DLL being called is crashed"

The other download j2re-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p-iftw gave me the message that "This installation package could not be opened....."

Any ideas as to what I need to do?
