Looking at it globally, it is certainly a good trend but there are a number of short term problems it creates for the US. The transition from being the only game in town to just being one of the competitors is not exactly smooth.

By competition, I mean competition to supply goods and services on global markets vs. increasing number of global suppliers and competition for global resources (oil, etc) competing vs. growing number of global consumers...


I understood what you meant.

A good thing that you may or may not have observed......the more people who improve their standard of living the more customers we will have for our more sophisticated products. In addition, rising prosperity usually raises more and more boats.
