BPA update:

EnergyNewsLive.com reported today that the BPA has announced a minimum rate increase for power of 150% as of Oct. 1. This is at the low end of the range they were projecting. BPA announced that it had achieved about 50% of its goal on shedding load. They had requested industrial users (i.e. aluminum smelters) and irrigators reduce loads by 2,400 Mw. BPA has successfully cancelled about 1,200 Mw of what they foolishly overcommitted to last year.

The 150% increase in wholesale electrical rates translates into about a 40% rate hike to me as a co-op member in Central Oregon as of Oct. 1. Thank you Steve Peace for your brilliant work on A.B. 1890.
