Paul {=============================} ebnews.com Altera names president of Japan unit By Crista Souza Electronic Buyers' News (10/22/98, 06:42:31 PM EDT) PLD supplier Altera Corp. today named Robert Buck Jr. as the first permanent president of its Japan division. Buck was most recently director of Japan and Asia Pacific sales for Vantis, the PLD subsidiary of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. As head of Altera Japan, Buck will manage sales and support for all Altera products in the region, where Altera is the major PLD supplier. The company said it intends to increase its focus in Japan to capture a share of the large market traditionally served by ASIC makers. Buck will report to Pete Smyth, vice president of worldwide sales for Altera.
