re: MHCA.OB - Mariner Healthcare $11.05

not only on fire but TEXAS, the state where MHCA does most of it's business now seems to have approved far-reaching MEDICAL LIABILITY reform by a popular vote !

From KPMGpartner (a very informative poster on the healthcare industry) on Yahoo's OHI board..

"Texas Voters approved a limit on non economic damages in medical cases. They are now the most restrictive, and therefore the best for long term care providers, of any state in the union. By definition people in the medicare and medicaid program are limited to 250000.Remember MHCA has the majority of its nursing facilities in TEXAS. This is huge for us. The savings, combined with FLA divestitures, will be huge. With 2 billion in revenues spread over 20 million shares, any savings would be significant to earnings. This constitutional amendment passed with 51% of the vote. Obviously with such a close vote this passage is a relief and should lead to a sizeable extention to the rally. Texas is THE state for Mariner"

well some lawyers will surely whine but for Mariner and for us shareholders it's MUSIC TO OUR EARS. IMHO it could go to $20 with ease..
