In the meantime, I'd suggest ditching the cable and the telephone. You do have a cell phone, right? There's nothing really worth watching on cable TV anymore, since you can download TV episodes off the Internet. Health plan? We're moving to universal health care anyway, so that might be the next to go. Selling the Beamer might be painful, but if you don't think gas is going to go back below $4/gallon, even with Obama as president, you should really consider getting a Honda Civic or Fit instead.

I gave up my cell when I started school.....still don't have one. I need a land line for my fax. Maybe I should give up my fax. I don't think my car is the issue. I fill up the beamer once a month.....sometimes twice. Its not the beamer......its everything else.......everything has gone up a lot in the last year. For whatever reason, inflation has been a bigger issue here in Seattle. I don't know why but we have exceeded the national average for several years running. Selling real estate in addition to teaching should do the trick. I hope.
