Dear Dale,

"Bearer shares" are ownership interests in a company. Unlike the kind of shares we typically think of which are issued or registered to a specific person, the ownership of "bearer shares" is determined simply by who possesses them.

There are two central purposes for bearer shares. One is that ownership remains confidential. The other is that ownership of a corporation can easily be transferred by simple share delivery.
