There's a review by Nat Hentoff in Friday's WSJ that mentions the theremin. I had no idea what one was when I read it, but thanks to this thread, I have a better idea. The review is of saxophonist Scott Robinson's latest release. Hentoff wrote, "... the arrangement of Mood Indigo includes the eerily penetrating sound of the theremin - an electronic instrument that is played by passing one's hand over a small black box...Here, the theremin makes Mood Indigo sound as if it were being played in a fathomless dream." This is really making me want to check this record out...
