Your comment: "Why would the telco's waste their time looking at a transmission method which is no better than one they are currently testing that has standards established..." Is probably true. However, there is one point that you missed here. IAUS is saying that this 6Mbps modem is to be deployed at the computer end of the modem pair. And will be competitively priced with other consumer modems. This is not a bridge or router modem to cost in the $1800-5000 range and to be used at the CO end of the local loop. Available 1st generation ASDL user end modems are not 6Mbps transmitting modems.
