Great to have you over here Ray!!!

That was a super article!! In fact, so super, it is now provided as one of the links in my subject header.

I have searched around for a copy of Hogan's "Know Nukes" but nothing seems to be available on the web. It was included in his anthology of short stories, "Minds, Machines, & Evolution" and states many of the same points as Rhodes/Beller.

But one area that Hogan goes a bit further into, and I believe it in reference to Fusion power, is the potential for fabricating materials at the atomic level from high-temperature plasma, a form of modern day alchemy where any rare or industrial metal can be created by transmutation for practically little actual cost. I can only imagine the impact on the commodities markets if such a technology came to fruition.

I also see that Rhodes/Beller also mention how hydrogen for fuel cell technology could be derived rather inexpensively through nuclear derived electricity.

It will be interesting to see if the nuclear industry will ultimately succeed in overcoming the demogoguery of the enviro-wackos who rail against nuclear, while ignoring the REAL and current environmental damage being committed by other methods (to include windmills and solar).

Again, it's good to have you onboard!!!

Regards,

Ron
