METAL STORM ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA - September 30, 2002: Metal Storm Limited (ASX code: MST and NASDAQ Small Cap: MTSX), a pioneer of electronic ballistics technology, has announced that Mr. G. Russell Zink joined the company today as Senior Vice President - Business Development. Mr. Zink will be based in the Arlington, Virginia office and report directly to Charles Vehlow, Chief Corporate Officer.
As Senior Vice President - Business Development, Mr. Zink will be responsible for building business by obtaining R&D and production contracts as well as closing opportunities for teaming, partnering or licensing with major defence firms to advance the commercialisation of Metal Storm technology.
Mr. Zink brings approximately 25 years of defence experience in program management, marketing and business development, for a number of U.S. defence companies. Prior to joining Metal Storm he held the positions of both President and CEO of Systems Management Inc., a high tech company with a core business focus on sensor equipment for aviation and defence markets. From 1994 -1999 he was with AAI Corp, Inc., whose core business was developing and manufacturing mechanical and electronic systems for defence and industry applications. Mr Zink held the position of Vice President Business Development and was responsible for expanding the companyís international and domestic business as well as developing merger and acquisition, and growth strategies.
Between 1985 and 1994 he served as the Director of Textron Inc.'s Vehicular Turbine Business Center, Director of Marketing at Kollsman Electro Optics and as Program Manager with General Dynamics Corp. Prior to 1985 Mr. Zink served in the U.S. Army in senior operational positions as well as in contract management and congressional liaison roles. Mr. Zink holds a Bachelor of Arts from California State University and a Master of Arts from Pacific Lutheran University and is a graduate of the General Dynamics Program Management School.
