That's about right. I figured 3 mils per $1000 bill, which would mean that an inch is 333 of them. So that's $333,000 per inch. 12 inches per foot, so it's $3,996,000 per foot. A mile is 5280 feet, so it's 21,098,880,000 per mile. Let's say 21 billion. There are a thousand billion in a trillion, so a trillion dollars is 43 miles. If your 1900 figure is right, then the national debt is about 45 trillion.
