Grant; Gates is far from omniscient. He is well known for throwing money at problems and failing(MSN, among other things) Dragon Dictate is written by a private company and they cannot be taken over. We all recognise that SR is a nascent tech and Gates wants in. He may back a dog and lose this race. All he has is money, he is not all wise or all knowing.

I have used both the latest IBM and Dragon offerings, and dragon is the best of the low priced crop. I am sure some of the $20,000 offerings are better. As to virtues of H Markoff methods, a lot depends on speed of the CPU as well as the algorithms. In addition dedicated engines(DSP's) to take some of this load can increase the efficiency of these methods.
Right now it creeps forward, getting better every month or so. Right now I can dictate a 1000 word document into dragon preferred and have it less than 5% errors. Simple SP errors are caught by the engine, but homonymic errors still creep through, neccessitating a proof read.

The things that I hate is the dry mouth I get from prolonged speaking.
...unaccustomed as I am to public speaking... I hope it gets better with practice. I also find I need a quiet environment for fast recognition. A noisy bacground ups the errors and slows it down somewhat. This is to be expected though.
