Information from about 1 year ago first diagrams the construction of various forms of LNG transport, and in the following narrative section mentions GLNG, among others. Of particular interest to me was the ship class design by El Paso Energy (EP), called the "Energy Bridge." Energy Bridge ships can both carry LNG, as well as convert themselves into floating regassification platforms (hooking up through bouys to undersea pipelines). The issues, though, is whether it is more economical for such ships to spend time converting the gas (as opposed to merely discharging it) instead of immediately shuttling back to the point of origin to pick up another load. But, for environmentally sensitive areas, this does seem to be an ideal solution. Does anyone know if EP, given its recent problems, has proceeded forth with the development of Energy Bridge ships?
