Guy. You're incorrect regarding giving your consent. Read your margin agreement carefully. Everyone who establishes a margin account signs a agreement with their brokerage firm that allows the brokerage to borrow the shares. Close your margin account and trade strictly with a cash account if you don't want your shares borrowed for shorting purposes.
