Certainly there are people who convince themselves that they are superior to others via association. In other words, even though you are not Churchill, you wear his suit; you are not of royal blood, but you drive a Land Rover; you cannot play golf, but you have a set of the "master clubs;" and you are not wealthy, but you look so very prosperous. Is this silly? Of course it is.
