We went to London Rain on Friday at 4pm and Sunday night at 10pm. The restaurant is 3 levels with retail on the top floor which is street level. The next level down is the main part of the restaurant with about a 1/3 mushroom bar that seats about 10 people. The 3rd level is more tables. Both times I was there the restaurant was about 1/2 full but when we left on Friday it was about full. Rain London seats about 340. You can see Rain from the road but
most of its frontage is behind glass windows. It is on a very high traffic spot next to the Golden Nuget Casino. The good points first. I was told they had the 5th highest volume in sales out of all the Rains. The waiter was confused when I started naming restaurants that it was beating. My impression was maybe 5th before all the fall openings. But one thing I was told that I think is true they are beating Mall Of America numbers which I think this
unit is doing great if they are above the 8 million annaul rate. The bad points this unit is not the same quality as the Rainforest in the states. The menu is 30% less ideas. The portions are about 25% less. The prices are the same as ours but the pound is 1 to 1.65. So a 10 dollar meal costs 16 dollars here. ( Mike Buckley would go through the roof here when he got his check in London,I know I did). But food here in Britan is alot higher priced than
the states. The kids meals are 7.95 in pounds thats over 10 dollars. They do get ice cream desert with their meal. No peanut butter and jelly thank god. The fish tanks had very little or no fish in them. They are also on the smaller side. They do have the parrots out front in retail. They are advertising to do kids birthday parties. The service was good both times. The Brushetta wasn't the same quality that we are use to. My lady's steak was like
shoe leather. My meals were good. They also give the kids crayons and a coloring page of a Rain character. I would like to see that idea come to America. I thought for the space they had they did a excellent job laying out the restaurant. Retail was busy. I ask the clerk how was business ? He said it could be better. He said the Brit's are on the stingy side. His words not mine. This area is a very high tourist traffic area. Waiter told us at lunch
they are packed for 3 hours. They have big crowds on the weekends. Steady all the other days. They said they had a great Christmas. My impression is this Rain will do good steady business for years to come.
