David, one good thing about the banks eating the cost of these foreclosures is that they kind of have it coming.

The system is designed to benefit the banks anyway. We homeowners are simply paying tax-deductible rent (along with a "forced" savings plan into equity that can disappear overnight). Not many people truly "own" their own homes.

So I'm sure you can pardon me if I don't shed a tear for the banks. Of course it's always hard for the homeowners who just got foreclosed upon, but most of them will end up just fine, and those who end up on the streets probably had bigger problems in the first place.
