Believe me, you're preaching to the choir! My comments about marrying a stock were the voice of hard, cruel experience....been there, done that, try not to do it anymore!
I just love a good story, really. Problem is, just because I love the story, and other people do, doesn't mean the stock will go up in value.
I don't entirely ignore stories---RSTG and ALNY and STEM were recent examples, and very successful ones too. There are exceptions, but in most cases I try to keep myself emotionally ready, willing, and able to go either short or long a stock, regardless of the story.
And that's where I find charts and TA to be most helpful.
