I did call the hotel and this nice person at the desk asked who I was and I said I was a friend of Mr. White's calling because he had a birthday coming up and I knew he loved the mints at the hotel and could they ask Esmerelda what kind he liked and it got very quiet and finally, this person said, "But of course, Esmerelda--the-uh-Mint Lady. Oh yes- Mr. White, he does love his mints..Night after night, he calls for Esmerelda and more mints." And then the poor man got a coughing fit and hung up.
So I guess you're off the hook this time, Thomas. But why was she giggling? Did you give her a large tip? Sometimes, my dear, you are rather too generous!
