From Briefing.com - Monday After Hours : Doesn't always pay to be the quickest on the draw in after hours trading. A headline report that semiconductor equipment maker Lam Research (LRCX 151 3/8) has approved a 2-for-1 stock split is pulling investors into the stock in an extended hours. Indeed, stock split announcements usually good for at least a 10 pt intraday move on a $100+ stock. Only one problem: This was not an announcement of a split. Rather, Lam Research simply issuing a press release stating that investors have approved the split, a mere formality in the process. The actual split was announced over a month ago. The confusion has, nonetheless, been good for a 7 pt move in after hours trading. Would expect the market to take back the majority of the gains tomorrow morning...
