This kind of action has happened to me many times. I put in a buy order with my broker and it is filled by sales first from his own clients, if he has any clients selling, and once he has no more available, the rest will come from other brokers. Clearly it is one buy or sell transaction as you can see from the execution time. This way they make a double commission, one from the buyer and one from the seller, just like a listing salesman selling a house that he has listed.

By the way, when they show bid and ask prices and volumes, it's the sum of all shares for sale at that price and that is usually made up of many sellers and brokers.

Sorry, but there is nothing sinister in that.
