Can someone please recommend a good and most importantly, safe, registry cleaner? When I click on some links I get the standard "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience" When I send the error report I get back the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis which indicates that the error was likely caused by WinShow PopUps, created by 8ad.com . They then offer an unendorsed link to pestpatrol.com which gives a free scan and then wants to sell me software (which ironically I couldn't buy even if I knew it was the best way to go, because given the nature of my problem, I can't open that particular link, lol). Their free scan indicates that WinShow - hijacker and Alexa - Exploit are in my computer. Interestingly, when I run my Intermute Spy Subtract and my Mcafee Virus Scans, they don't indicate any spyware, virus or other problems in my system. I've also tried many different restore points and that hasn't helped. I'm not sure I should risk cleaning the registry manually, as I haven't done it before and I hear it's a bitch if you mess it up. So if if you can recommend a reasonable shortcut, I'd certainly appreciate it. BTW, I'm running Windows XP on a Dell 4600 desktop. TIA
