Gary,

You're absolutely right, we all know that no company has a monopoly in the networking sector. I know this is the INTC thread, but since you asked I'll give a couple of reasons I like CSCO in addition to INTC.
(1) the inter/intra networks must be upgraded and expanded to realize the full capabilities of the PC's connected to them. This is why the networking sector continues to experience phenomenal growth.

(2) since I'm not smart enough to know which of the many networking companies have viable products and which are blowing smoke, I need a competent management team to identify those with true cutting edge technology and avoid the others.

(3) Cisco's management team not only identifies these companies, it buys them so I don't have to! If you want to know where network technology is heading, look at what Cisco is buying. Many times these are private companies that I couldn't have bought even if I were as smart as Paul, Burt and the boys.

(4) The bottom line is John Chambers @ Co. have made Cisco the networking leader through savy acquisitions, strategic alliances, and
excellent marketing of their products. I see nothing on the horizon to change this picture.

Go INTC and CSCO!

Lee
