You're aware, are you not, that Chomsky invents quotes and attributes them to people he does not like? Like the quotes he attributed to Eisenhower's National Security Advisor? (I'm still waiting for you to find a source other than Chomsky for that little gem).

On the Thomas Friedman "third world detritus" quote Chomsky has outdone himself in duplicity. He makes it seem like Thomas Friedman said this. But in other Chomsky writing he attributes this statement to Stephen Kinzer in an entirely different context (and I doubt he even has that right):

Times correspondent Stephen Kinzer is offended by the willingness of the Sandinistas "to express solidarity with Palestinians, M-19s, and other Third World detritus" (Joe Klein).

Knowing of Kinzer's work, I tend to doubt Chomsky's libel. Kinzer is a very balanced journalist, often explaining the Arab and Muslim viewpoint, as a recent interview with him shows:
