Rockhead, I'm no expert on this but I think that only the 8088 PC
ran with two floppies and no hard drive (1979). I think everything
else, the XT, 286, 396, etc. all had hard drives. I had a 286 about
1982, if I remember correctly, and remarkably we hooked up 4 dumb
terminals that ran off it for simple word processing.
But the problem was the hard drives were unreliable and having a
bootable floppy was essential. I have one or two of each of the above
in my basement, so I could check, but I am sure someone else has the
facts at their fingertips while my basement is 7 miles away.
..Curiously, I have been working on Macs for the past three years.
Talk about dead markets/products.
..So you tricked me into acknowledging you, Rocky. Have a good day.
