The point is MSFT is worth more as several companies than one company. Like AT&T, right now, it's panick selling, but in long run, MSFT corp. is solid. IF they split to two different companies tomorrow, its stock value actually worth a lot more. On the other hand, if we don't like the management of Chairman Gates, a proxy vote with over 50% can veto him and his best man off the office, and start a whole new management that will settle with the government.
