The "dead cat bounce" is neat phenominon caused a lot of times by shorts covering their position ..

If the stock takes a a dive on sudden news that NO ONE knew (or wanted public), you wouldn't expect the dead cat bounce because there was no time to short ...so even if the kitty comes from the fortyforth floor it might act like a wet towel ... :-)
