Obama's answer sounded flip..almost like he was saying "don't bother me with that pesky question, I have larger fish to fry." He may have been referring to the fact that it's the Supreme Court's responsibility to decide when life begins, and they've refused to do so. IMO, those who insist an "independent human life" starts with the first tiny cells, are taking an ayotollah-like position on the issue. They assign the woman's life no importance whatsoever when compared with the initial teeny, tiny cell formation of a "potential" human life. Afterall, for thousands of years women had no human rights, were(and are) often treated brutally in places like the MidEast, yet managed to nurture the survival of the human race to 2008. They've already proven their commitment to life in spades and their opinions on the subject are paramount. I've often expressed the conviction that whatever the majority of women in the USA decide on abortion, would receive my respect--even if I didn't totally agree. We'll try to draw sulcus out on his opinion when he checks in.
