Craig, The jpeg compression of the raw image data points in a digital camera allows for relatively small file sizes and exceptional clarity in the image. Post-acquisition compression seems to degrade the image and certain transformations (.bmp or .ppt for example) can create gigantic files. I have no idea why that is so. In any case, before the image makes it into a PC for manipulation it is in its most compact form and file sizes under 250 or 300 KB are quite pleasing to the eye. In fact, some files of 100 KB or less are acceptable. With 2 or 2.4 megapixel CCD's the file sizes are bound to increase, but still well within the range of CF storage capacity. I feel quite confident about that statement. Ausdauer
