Here's why it's down so big: Oncogene cancer compound Phase I started UNIONDALE, N.Y., Aug 19 (Reuter) - Oncogene Science Inc said Tuesday that Pfizer Inc (PFE),its collaborative partner for the discovery and development of novel, small molecule anticancer drugs, has initiated Phase I clinical trials in the United States for CP-358,774 in cancer patients. CP-358,774 is an orally active, small-molecule inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor activity. It is representative of a new class of anticancer drugs that target the underlying molecular mechanism involving oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes which play critical roles in the conversion of normal cells into a cancerous state. Oncogene said that clinical development of CP-358,774 is being funded and managed by Pfizer under terms of a collaborative research and development agreement. No cure for old age? Getoutahere.....
