Thanks for the explanation. I knew they didn't compete but needed the analogy to more fully understand why.
On another topic, do you know what part of Spectrum's business the Hurricane chip will represent, say, in 1998, 99, and 2000? The September 8 announcement says, "The high-performance of Spectrum's new C6x product family hinges on the Hurricane, a new PCI interface bridge chip. This chip was exclusively developed by Spectrum to increase I/O dataflow to and from the PCI interface at a sustained transfer rate of 132MB/s, while permitting the design of a compact and efficient line of products. . . ."
This appears to be an essential link in unclogging highspeed data at the PCI. Who are Spectrum's customers likely to be?
