I think there is a boundary between issues that, when crossed, makes comparison dubious. For example, comparing Terri Shiavo with capital punishment.

Dichotomy is an interesting choice of word for the situation. Reminds me of when I was a child, and my parents admonished me for being 'sarcastic'. One day, I detected my mother being sarcastic towards us, and called her on it. She said she was not sarcastic, but facetious. Not knowing the word, I asked her. She said: "Kids are sarcastic. Parents are facetious".

The fact that the spotlight on their end-of-life situations, and decisions, happened literally days apart shines the full light of hypocrisy on the Church, yet again. Having been raised a Catholic, and having observe the day-to-day 'dichotomy' of treatment of clergy versus parishioner, it just seems like old times...
