So I believe there may be a case to be made that as the Left's reformist platform became enacted throughout the 20th century, they lost by succeeding. The stats are also out there that people in the USA would have done just as well without the Unions, but that the Unions did distort it in favor of certain industries. Auto is a classic example. The Union movement today is mainly making it's bucks off of various types of Government and semi-Government employees. They are the only ones that can stand up to Free Trade. "West Wing" had a "pro free trade" show last night that was very well done. Surprised the hell out of me. They whined about it, but admitted they were trying to sweep back the tide in opposing it. Still used uncaring businessmen and loving union leaders to show it, though.
