Clearly, Read Rite has the most interesting development at this year's Diskcon. I think they have regained a lot. Everybody is talking about it. Speaking to Lucent, they say their PRML was used and that it was not their best product, so he figured it wouldn't take much for them to boost those numbers.

Also, it seems clear that many people are talking about how well Maxtor has been doing which is again good for RDRT as they are the biggest customer.

I've also learned interesting things are Rite Flex which is developing a flex circuit for connecting heads. They may have 3 programs for head interconnect, of which I heard one is at Seagate. I also hear that they are selling head to SEG for their Taos drive.

The Rite Flex technology is a product of RDRT's equity investment in Tessara which is one of the most popular companies developing new packaging technologies for semiconductors. They are combining engineers from both groups. The market for these flex circuits should be greater than the head business, so if can gain serious market share here it would be extremely good.

I was impressed enough to buy some stock. It seems undeniable that they are on a come back.

Regards,

Mark
