Paying attention to reality is for wimps. It is like when you read about things like the Crusades and the thought runs across your mind "what were they thinking?". Now we know. They weren't. "I guess this is what having a powerful military engine does to folks..." Only to some. Some people only see the power and are blind to the whole package. It is like with a bulldozer. They see that enormously powerful piece of equipment and they use it to take charge. Then they drive a branch through the radiator core and it doesn't move any more... Or like some of the stories my father has about Korea. Now there was a war where we took people and shoved them out on the battle field, often with little training. He was a sargeant in a motor pool. A large fraction of their time was spent rescuing tanks stuck on a steep hillside or that had thrown a track because the drivers didn't know the limits of the vehicle.
