All:
Damn, I stay away from SI for one weekend and return to find this thread has gone nuts with so many of you people getting all worked up over a couple individuals. Since I have little time to spare in my full-time investing, and am loathe to wade through 100's of posts on threads that I frequent, let me share something with you all...
Almost anyone having visited the Fool boards from before last June would recognize my "alias". I never really took those AOL'ers seriously, nor the content of their postings on those stock forums -- since most of them seem to be brainwashed by the Motley Fool's philosophies that they are very close-minded. So, in between my trading and investing, I used to have so much fun raising hell over there on some of the more popular boards. I was absolutely notorious...I kid you not. The Motley Fool staff didn't know what to do with me...finally AOL had to take measures I have never seen duplicated. They banned my entire family line from AOL for life -- no joke. I obviously found a way around it, but it wasn't easy. Those people still whisper and speculate on who is or isn't me. If it was the CSCO board, give me one day and it would now be the "Style Pts" board for the next month. I've ceased those disruptive activities though, and my current screen name over there actually has a pretty good rep around the Fool.
The fact is, it is so easy to post something inflammatory to the masses following a particular stock, and immediately work up 100 posts in reaction. For a stock like Cymer that has a huge long following, usually shorting and daytrading comments are pretty successful with the right amount of poking. What used to work wonders for me, was referring to myself as a "god"...LOL...you talk about hilarious! I controlled the CSCO,ASND,COMS,NOVL, ATCT, and other boards for over a month at one time -- I say "controlled" because I was the subject rather than the stocks. Why did I do it? For kicks, of course. When you trade/invest for a living, you get so little free time, you find yourself finding amusement in the stupidest things...and it was fun watching how I could make so many squirm. It's really funny to see how so many people stress over pointless things such as gloating and taunting when in cyberspace everyone is anonymous and therefore immune to any social whiplash from "indecent" conduct.
I've spoken occasionally with LzzrdKing as far back as many, many months ago on AOL and when I began to use SI a couple months ago, he recognized me from before. We joked about how the AOLers were so hilarious and easily had their feathers ruffled over nothing. For a few weeks I used to frequent his "Trading Swamp" thread here, but it soon became flooded with idiot amateurs posting cheezy stock picks from their asses, so I ceased coming around...but while I was there we joked about the "longs getting all worked up". CYMI longs are vulnerable to this kind of sidebar amusement because of the rough and tumble that was had for the past month. Lzzrdking and others of his thread are trading this one now and my guess is while they're here, why not get a couple laughs...after all, the real background and hardcore fundamentals matter little when you hold for a few days tops, so it's not like they need to take any of this seriously. In fact, a month ago I was trading CYMI along with ASND, but although I posted some of my trades over there, I never mentioned CYMI because it was my fave trade and I didn't want to pique any more traders' interests in it...I guess I thought I found a real cash cow and I was "hoarding" it to myself. Ah well.
The point is, don't take everything so personal! There is nothing more entertaining to a trader than to see the longs tearing their hair out over his baiting. He pokes, you squeal. Then he laughs his ass off. Most of you all might think this to be a little juvenile, but if you are a trader, good amusement is hard to come by, and so you take what you can get, you know? When dozens of you post over and over and he is the real topic, you are falling for it. I'm only telling you all this because it's so boring sifting through such a chaotic board that I actually use! I haven't stopped over at "LK's trading swamp" for several weeks, but I'm willing to bet they're laughing their asses off at your expenses. Don't be such easy game, it's embarrassing.
